Arrival — Rivertrees Country Inn
Met at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred (~45 min) to Rivertrees Country Inn, a former coffee farm in the foothills of Mount Meru with gardens, a stream and a pool. Relax and prepare for the climb.

Momela Gate to Miriakamba Hut
Register at Momela Gate and hike with an armed ranger through open grassland and montane forest — buffalo, giraffe and warthog, past the Fig Tree Arch — to Miriakamba Hut, with views into the Meru crater.

Miriakamba to Saddle Hut + Little Meru
A shorter, steeper climb through glades and Elephant Ridge to Saddle Hut by lunch, with good views into the crater. An optional afternoon hike up Little Meru (3,820 m) aids acclimatization.

Summit Socialist Peak, return to Saddle Hut
An early start (~2 am) up through bushes to bare rock and ash, via Rhino Point along the crater rim to Socialist Peak (4,566 m) for sunrise — typically 5–6 hours up and 2–3 down. Hot lunch and overnight back at Saddle Hut.

Descend to Momela Gate, return to Rivertrees
